To the uninitiated, kindergarten furniture might seem like a trivial item to consider in such learning places as in a kindergarten. Studies, however, had shown that the furniture pieces are some of the influencing factors that help contribute to a child’s mental and emotional growth.
The learning programs offered in kindergarten are geared for children between the ages of 4 and 5. The primary aim is preparing these very young children for their next school level. Teachers most usually are already designing their learning activities in preparation to their next core programs. Creative motivations Teachers and administrators need some care in choosing furniture pieces for use in the many areas in the children’s learning center. For one, small table of different colors and shapes can trigger interest among young children, one way of opening their minds to creative areas. The furniture pieces in their vibrant colors and designs give the children the stimulus and into being more interactive in their stay. The comfort provided by the furniture pieces can help in building in them self-esteem, coupled with the total feel of the room that had been scales for their needs. Familiar shapes Another trigger to more interactivity with the children is the fact that the familiar forms and shapes of the furniture around them are reminders of home. The interactivity extends to their lessons and their relationships with their classmates and teachers. The familiar things around gives them the feeling of being welcomed. These can put them at ease as these are the same familiar forms they have at home. To make them child-friendly, the trend is on soft curves and gentle angles. Colors Even with adults, colors still have their attractive qualities. The surroundings in the center (furniture pieces, floors, walls, and other décors) have been found to help the kids like their stay. They also trigger their interests into more activities. The findings are that primary colors seem to have the most appeal to children. The younger kids seemed to get some calming effect from the colors, while the older ones seemed to be stimulated by them. Surroundings Kids have also been noted to be sensitive to the environment around them. Their behavior seemed to be triggered by the spaces and the things that fill these as they see it. The younger and older kids have the same reaction to their surroundings. Kids from kindergarten have come to learn some discipline with the presence of teachers around to let them see the lessons. However, with the same conditions as lining up the furniture pieces in the wall can trigger the older kids to use the space as their playground or some other rowdy activities. Influence Even after these children have passed and finished some daycare center years, the kindergarten kids can still be seen doing the combination of their curriculum of play and activities-oriented programs. This is after the kids have learned some number counting and knowing letters. Whether present or absent, kindergarten furniture and other elementary factors are still influencing them. Choosing the items that can help them in positive ways is the main task of adult teachers and administrators.
